ABOUT THE BLEND
Our espresso is actually made up of coffee from two different producers: planalto estate and buenos aires.
ABOUT PLANALTO ESTATE
One of our longest sourcing relationships is with Planalto, and it’s grown a lot since we first started with Sergio and Mariza.
For the past 25 years the Planalto Estate has been growing speciality coffees in the highlands of the Nova Rezende, in the south of Mina Gerais in Brazil. The generous space (it’s more than 900 hectares in size), combined with the 3600 foot altitude and the surrounding natural forest, contribute to the farm’s unique microclimate – which is perfect for growing high-quality coffee. The farm is managed by Sergio Mantovaninni who, together with his wife Mariza, inherited the farm from Mariza’s father.
ABOUT BUENOS AIRES FARM
José hasn’t kept the success of the Buenos Aires farm all to himself – he’s made sure his workers feel the difference too.
Having shared farmland inherited from his father for a number of years with his brother and sister, Jose Ramon Collazos bought Buenos Aires outright in 1989. At the time, the space was barren with a house made from plants and other natural materials. Over the past 29 years he has been farming the land, he has made his home at the top of the farm – as well as adding lodging for seasonal workers. And in the four years that Pact has been buying his coffee, he has used the premium price he receives from us to increase the quality of this accommodation even further.
